The plague or otherwise known as the black death is a infectious disease. The disease is caused by a bacteria known as Yersinia Pestis. This bacteria can be found mainly on rodents. Coming into contact with these rodents increase your chance of catching the plague. However in modern day society the plague is rarely heard of other than history books.
The reason the black death, has decreased severely in the number of victims is due to the change in living patterns. Toady homes are kept cleaner, there are medications such as antibiotics and over all improvements to sanitation. In the US alone only between ten and twenty people are infected, due to rodent bites. And only one out of seven is fatal in the US.
The last known record of a person spreading the disease was in 1924. Since then the disease has only been transferred through infected rodents and fleas.
Some of the symptoms of the plague include flu like symptoms (fever, headaches, weakness, chills), and often tenderness and swollen lymph nodes.
The plague if not taken care of properly can quickly spread through the blood stream slowly shutting down your body’s organs. When this happens the body will slowly start to shut down and can become severely damaging or even fatal.
The best methods to prevent the plague is to take care of your body properly. Eating healthy and exercising is always a great way to ensure the best possible health. If your body is in top physical shape you are able to fight off more diseases and illness’s. Keeping your living habits clean will also ensure that there are less bacteria and chances of rodents inhabiting your home.
If at any time you feel you may be suffering from the plague it is highly recommended to seek medical help as soon as possible. Although transfer between people is often extremely rare it is always best to ensure proper steps are taken
